1 Year Together!
Today marks the day!
1 year ago today, Carrie and I got married.
It’s been a truly incredible year, filled with lots of travel, new friends, get-togethers with existing friends and family, and a great time for planning our future together!

The Solar Cooker Oven Project
Some of you know this already, but Carrie and I are working on a book to teach everyday people (like us) how to green in their daily lives (without growing a beard and becoming a granola-eating, tree-hugging, no-deodorant-wearing, beard-growing hippie), and one of the things we are doing in that community is building a web site called GreenJoyment.com.
The past two weeks, for that site, we’ve been building and testing out solar cookers, so we wanted to share some of that experience here on our site, to see if anyone here might have an interest in solar cooking (and if not, just to share what we’ve been up to.

Sunday’s Inspirational Story: From Ike to Destiny
Paul Myers is a guy who a lot of people in the Internet Marketing world know, primarily because he offers really great stuff at really cheap prices, and also probably because was one of the first big “marketers” online (or at least he has been online since the days of the first “big” online information marketers – whatever “big” means).
I’ve gotten a lot from his (completely free, no strings attached, check it out here if you like) goal setting book, and like to read what he has to say about the goings on in the world.
I also frequent the Warrior Forum, which paul mentions in the email below. The Warrior Forum is a place where people who like (or want to like) Internet Marketing hang out and help each other.
Okay, that’s all the prefacing you need in order to get the inspiration from this story which Paul sent out today.

Questions about climbing Kilimanjaro
Hi there.
My name is joseph and i just finished watching your kilimanjaro video. It’s something i am planning to do next august/september and I am trying to find out as much about the climb as possible prior to doing it.
Altitude is going to be my weakness as I have never exposed myself to that height before and I was wanting to know whether you did any previous climbing at that height prior to the climb?
Nope. No hiking at that height. Although we do live in Colorado (where the elevation is a mile above sea level), and went for a few hikes in the mountains, up around 9,000/10,000 feet. The best preparation we did was to go to Washington D.C. for 12 days prior to our climb and be tourists. We talked about 5-7 miles/day in Washington D.C., and that made all the difference once we were on the mountain. (Other people we were climbing with were sore… we experienced very little of that in the first few days.)
Also, how much was the climb and which company did you do it through? would you recommend them?
Yes. We would definitely recommend them. It was a little more expensive than some of the other packages we could have gotten, but completely worth it. I think it cost $2600 each for 9 days in Africa (which included a 1 day safari, all of our accommodations before climbing and after coming off the mountain, and everything on the mountain). It did not include airfare, which was about $1800 each.
We went through Kevin Cherilla (www.kcsummits.com) on the American side, who partnered with Simon Mtui in Tanzania and (name of company I don’t remember).

Hope this is helpful for you!

$29 for water?
This year (hard as it is for me to believe), I’ll be turning 29 on September 27.
(For future reference (and so that no one has to ask how old I am) every year after this year I’ll ALSO be turning 29.
)
Some of you don’t normally buy me a gift for my birthday, but this year I am doing something special.
I’m asking friends and family of ours to consider participating in charity:water’s September birthday project to build wells in Ethiopia and give the people there clean water.
I’m asking for my age in dollars (which would be, in this case, $29), or whatever you can give (even if it’s just a couple of dollars/pounds/euros/etc. it makes a big difference).
100% of everything raised goes directly to build wells, and is MATCHED by another organization (founded by actor/director Matt Damon)
This matching means that $20 donated = $40 going towards building wells.
You can complete the process in less than 3 minutes.
Please take a moment and visit my page by clicking the graphic below:

To see why I’m supporting the campaign, watch the 3-minute trailer above (If you haven’t already).
Thanks everyone!
