Plane Tickets to Tanzania and Kilimanjaro

Holy cow were the plane tickets expensive. I’ve been searching for over a month now, and we finally decided to buy tickets. We went the multi-city route so that we could be sure and have some time, on the way back, in Amsterdam. (On the way there we’re wanting to get to Tanzania and Kilimanjaro directly.) After looking for separate tickets everywhere, and looking for multi-city options, we finally found one that was, what seemed like, a good deal. (That’s not to say that it wasn’t a good deal, it just wasn’t as good as we were hoping.) But, now that we have safely spent over $2000 per person on airline tickets alone, we are all set to go.
And, they issued us paper tickets! Can you believe that? I haven’t been issued a paper ticket since I was in 5th grade (which was 13 years ago). I didn’t even know that they still did that. I guess I’ve just been spoiled traveling in the age of e-tickets so you don’t have to worry about forgetting them, losing them, having them stolen, spilled on, etc. But we’ve got them. So, as Jonathan says, “I guess we’re really going aren’t we.”

Climbing Kilimanjaro – Are You Ready

Probably the most common question we are asked about going to Kilimanjaro is “Are you ready?” I can see by our countdown clock on the web site that we have only 44 days until we leave for Kilimanjaro, and I can safely say that I absolutely, positively am 100% NOT AT ALL ready! But we’re working on getting ready.
We’re also in the process of making changes to the web site… so stay tuned for that…
Carrie said the other day to someone we were talking with that “Climbing Kilimanjaro is the kind of thing that you really can’t be completely ready for. No matter how much you do, you can always say you wish you had done more preparing.”

Changes to auction and video discovery!

Hi everyone!
A quick update on the auction.
People kept asking us how they could get involved in the auction without acutally paying more than the current bid to win. So, we’ll be re-opening the eBay auction listing shortly, and we’ll be doing it in a way so that EVERYONE can take part in the opportunity to promote their business/web site on us.
There will be a limited # of spots however, and four of them are already gone. So, if you’re not already signed up, (or if you know of someone who would be interested in a unique sponsorship opportunity), be sure to put your name in and sign up for the newsletter, because it’s where we’ll announce the time of the eBay auction launch first.
Also, here is a video of

Video describing our Kili climb

So here’s the challenge…Conveying to people who don’t know, what the real opportunity is for them when it comes to winning our auction! We have this great opportunity for any company that wants to be the #1 bidder, but we haven’t had the kind of traffic to the auction that would warrant their spending a ton of money on the auction itself. So, to help the winner understand what they’re getting, and to help us promote the auction, we built a video! Want to check it out? Press Play below.
